There are sins that come with an ugly face. We immediately know that they are wrong. But there are sins that come with beautiful clothes. Wrapped in freedom, called love, given the name healing, then displayed as a lifestyle.
This is one way the devil works: making evil look beautiful.
The Quran calls it tazyin—decoration. Allah says: "And the devil has made them look good in their deeds..." (QS. An-Nahl: 63).
Notice: the devil does not always want to make us hate good. Sometimes he just wants to make us stop feeling guilty about evil.
Because when sin still feels like sin, the heart is still possible to return. But when sin is considered cool, the heart no longer seeks forgiveness. It actually seeks justification.
Allah warns: "...And the devil has made them look good in their deeds, then he blocks them from the path of Allah..." (QS. An-Naml: 24).
So before asking, "Does this look beautiful?"
Ask something far more important:
"Is this beautiful in the sight of Allah?"
Because not everyone who is praised by humans is pleasing to God.
And sometimes, the biggest trap of the devil is not making us love sin.
But making us admire it.
